Modern Poems

October 4th, 2009

Classic poems offer semi literature. The ‘ Rock a bye baby’ is still a favourite lullaby and used to soothe a baby to sleep. With changes in each sector, there is dynamism even in kids poems. The modern poems relate to activities and science which kids are so much aware of. The gadgets and gizmos which was not found during our childhood is much used by children. To upkeep with this modernity there are also inclusion in kids poems.

There are plants poems for kids and also animals are included for fun. It is quite common that kids know about a komodo dragon and the panda. Modern poems are about teaching the kids of what they see around. ‘ Engine Engine number 9’ is another modern poems for the pre schoolers with which complete action makes it interesting for the kids. ‘Two twin aeroplanes’ have the concept of teaching them that ‘twin’ means two.

Modern Poems‘Xmas tree very pretty ‘does not actually rhyme, but again is the best way to tell the child about Santa, toys and colour of lights. The vegetable song taught in schools like ‘ Come and hear, follow me’ is another modern trend that has t the carrots, peas, beans and corn and also the food guide for eating healthy. The fruity fruit song, ‘ Wash us clean and chop us lean’ is another fruit based song that also talks about cleanliness.

Teaching counting to children is never easy. Kids get easily confused and hence poems would be the best way to tell them to count. ‘ One two three four five, once I caught a fish alive’ is a counting poem. Fruit salads is a kids favourite food item and the ‘Watermelon, papaya’ is another fruit poem which is loved by kids.

‘Seven little ducks, that I once know’ teaches physical qualities like fat, thin, skinny. ‘Yellow is the butter we like to eat’ ends with falling on the slippery banana and also the room echoes with ripples of laughter. ‘Six little ducks’ seems a long modern poems which teaches reverse counting, starting with six and goes down to one. This is best for stimulating kids. Try the same with ‘ Five little monkeys’. It would be best idea to teach them about numbers alongside and also to write the same using pictures of the poems.

Modern poems are also made assertive by teaching independence. This is seen in ‘ After my bath’ and also in ‘All by myself’. Whatever be the poem is it best to have an assortment of old and new. ‘ Dashing through the snow’ will always be a favourtie evergreen Christmas song and so will the parent narrate the first poem as ‘Twinkle Twinkle’. It is always better to include modern poems and better sounding words so that the kids are in-sync with the happenings around them.
